About CoinMelt
What is CoinMelt?
CoinMelt provides free, accurate melt value calculators for US silver coins, gold bullion, scrap gold and silver, and copper pennies. Every calculation uses live spot prices fetched directly from a real-time data source, with a recent snapshot as fallback.
We built CoinMelt because melt value calculators are often inaccurate, stale, or require registration. Ours are free, no login needed, and always start with a real default result — not zeros.
The CoinMelt Desk
The CoinMelt editorial team researches coin specifications from US Mint publications, verifies metal compositions against authoritative sources, and writes practical guides for people who hold silver, gold, or old coins and want to know what the metal inside is worth.
We are not coin dealers, bullion brokers, or investment advisors. We do not sell coins or precious metals. We have no affiliate relationships with buyers or dealers. Our goal is to give you the information you need to understand the metal value of what you hold — what you do with it is your call.
AI-assistance disclosure
CoinMelt content is researched and written with AI assistance. All coin specifications are verified against primary sources (US Mint publications, Coinage Acts). Formulas are derived from the same constants used in the calculators, so worked examples always match calculator outputs. If you spot an error, please contact us.

Disclaimer
Melt value is an estimate of the raw metal value of a coin at current spot prices. It is not the same as what a dealer will pay, a coin's numismatic value, or investment advice. Always consult a professional price guide and get multiple quotes before selling any coin or precious metals. CoinMelt is not responsible for decisions made based on information on this site.
